Rescue Me ID: 17-04-20-00005Hunter (male)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Gorgeous, right? This hunk is Hunter, a 2.5 year old Cattledog. He weighs about 60 pounds. Hunter is such a great boy. He went from being an outside dog to knowing the basics in just a week: sit, house training, crate training. Hunter is a social boy. He is good with large and small dogs. Since he is a nice boy, he prefers dog friends who are the same. So, mellow and neutral to submissive dogs are preferred. He does well at doggy daycare, too. He just likes to live in harmony. In fact, he is so harmonious that he is living nicely with cats. After a quick sniff, he just accepted that they are family. Hunter loves attention from men, women, ... (Read More)and kids. He loves to get attention and even likes to be brushed. He gives kisses, too! Hunter is ready for adventures. He is nice on a leash, though he does have a few quirks that should iron out over time. He will walk right beside you, then bump his nose against you to check in on you. Such a herder! He also loves to look back with a huge smile. He loves outings and will thrive with lots of walks and/or hiking. He is good in a car, too, so he will love adventures both in the neighborhood and further afield. Hunter is an ideal Cattledog for someone who wants the smarts and a dog who can keep up, but doesn't want the high intensity of the standard Cattledog. He is quiet, relaxed, and sweet. He goes with the flow and would be lovely with a family. However, the kids should be older simply because he likes to jump up to give kisses and that could knock over a smaller kid. So, the only draw-back with Hunter? He does shed. If you don't want to brush a dog, then he isn't for you. Hunter is ready to meet potential adopters in So Cal. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

He is also working on his basic obedience commands with hand signals. He already knows sit and wait. He will go to his kennel if you point to it. He loves to learn and forms a wonderful bond with his people. Quigley is a sweet boy. He loves people, dogs, and even polite older kids. Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This gorgeous guy is Notch. He is a 2.5 year old 30 pound Cattledog mix. He was a stray but we don't know why. Notch is a very sweet boy. He has really opened up in rescue and is showing his very social self. He is a total winner. For his person, they will have the best dog ever. He is affectionate and very eager to please. Notch is a quick learner. He apparently hadn't been taught anything before coming into rescue. Now, he is seeing how cool it is to have a relationship and listen to his person. He is very attentive. With new people, he is initially shy but warms up if people give him just a moment to make his own introduction. He ... (Read More)walks nicely on a leash and is polite in the car. Notch has a moderate energy level, likes to be out and about, and he is a bit of a velcro dog, he just wants a person of his own to love. Notch is nice with other animals. He lives with a cat. While he will sniff around where the cat has been, he generally ignores the cat. With other dogs, he is nice with dogs his size or smaller. Bigger dogs can intimidate him, so a larger dog pal would need to be polite and mellow. He is a polite boy in the house. He is house trained and crate trained. Notch is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots. He is ready to meet potential adopters in So Cal. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

What could be better than two gorgeous sisters? Meet Trace and Zip, two bonded sisters who are looking for a new home. They were purchased from a breeder as puppies and very much loved. Then their person passed away. They are looking for another home where they can be adored again. These girls have such sweet personalities. They love to meet people and get very wiggly when they do. They bond nicely with a person and really enjoy getting attention. They are nice with men, women, and kids. However, they are too excited to be in a home with young kids. Trace and Zip are dog friendly. They also seem uninterested in cats. They didn't have a ... (Read More)cat in their prior home but in their foster home they don't seem to care about the cat. They did have a parrot in their prior house and they are fine with that. Trace and Zip have just the right amount of energy. They love to go in the car and they enjoy walks and hikes. When the fun is over, they settle down nicely next to their person and hang out until the next adventure. Both of the girls are house and crate trained. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It doesn't get any sweeter than Snarfles. This darling little Cattledog mix found himself in a shelter with a seriously bad case of Secondary Acanthuses NIgricans (or for those of us non-medical types- long term neglect left his hair and skin in horrible shape). Now he is healing, his charming personality is coming out, and he is looking for a forever home who is willing to love him as his hair finishes growing in. Snarfles is between 5-6 years old and weighs about 33 pounds. He is a gentle, low key boy who is a social butterfly. He loves everyone that he meets: people, dogs, and cats. He even likes the vet! Snarfles is a very nice boy in ... (Read More)the house. He is house and crate trained. He adores people and loves to cuddle and be held. Heck, he is even looks dashing in a sweater. Don't let that calm demeanor fool you. He is a smartie pants. He knows his name and comes when called. He is working on sit and stay. As for food, that is his special pleasure. He will do anything for food. He can hear a treat bag open from the other side of the house and will bark to let you know that he wants one immediately! If you want a fun little buddy who will root for your sports team, hang out with you on the couch, and snack with you, this guy is your dog. That said, he is wonderful on leash and great in a car. So, when it's time to work off the calories from eating snacks, he is ready to keep you company on walks and hikes. Mostly, Snarfles is looking for an amazing home who will see the beauty in his heart. He adores attention and is almost surprised when he gets it. He blossoms more every day and will be a fantastic pal for someone. Snaffles is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is available to meet potential adopters in Southern CA, since he is a beach weather kind of guy. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] This darling girl is Nettie. She is a Cattledog/Border Collie mix who was born into rescue. Because she is a special needs girl, she needs a special home. Nettie weight about 40 pounds and is a happy girl. She loves people and loves to play with other dogs. Nettie has lots of friends. She plays and runs around the yard with other dogs (see the video). She is also polite with cats. She is a very social girl with people, too. She is good in the car and is a favorite at the pet food store and vet's office. Nettie knows to go to her crate for bed-time. She also knows sit. She is house trained and appreciates a ... (Read More)schedule that allows her to go out a bit more frequently than some other dogs. Nettie's herding dog smarts are helping her to adjust to a case of epilepsy that came upon her as a younger puppy. With regular medication and comfort in her environment, Nettie's seizures have been under control. She seeks a home with people who are home more than not, like to have fun and cuddle on a very pretty and soft girl, and will keep up the structure that keeps her happy and healthy. She would also like a home where she can be on the furniture, since she does like to act like a mountain goat from time to time. With a face like that, who minds? Nettie is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She is ready to meet potential adoptive homes in SoCal. A home visit and a vet reference are required. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-15-00693Lucky (male)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Named Lucky because he truly is, this guy is a 5 year old Australian Cattledog who weighs about 27 pounds. Lucky is the kind of dog whose love you earn and, when you do, he is your best friend forever. He has had a rough time of it and a good samaritan stepped in to help him. Lucky, indeed. Now, he is looking for a home who doesn't mind taking it just a bit slow at first. Simple little things make all of the difference to him, such as talking to him before coming up to him, so he knows you are coming his way. Gentle leadership will help him relax and become even more wonderful than he already is. His foster mom wishes that she had fewer ... (Read More)dogs, so she could keep him. Lucky is a typically Cattledog in that he sometimes wonders about bigger dogs. He likes small dogs and would be fine with another medium-larger dog who isn't interested in being number one. He is also uninterested in the cat in the house, so should be fine with cats. Lucky is a smart guy. He learned his name in under a week. We don't know what his name was before he came to us. Also, he is house trained. He knows his basic commands: sit, stay, quiet, and come. He is initially excited to go on an adventure, but stops pulling on the leash after just a bit. He will walk right at your side, ready for whatever fun is in store. He does love car rides. He thinks that he would like to help drive by sitting on your lap. So, he is learning to stay on his side and will benefit from a dog seatbelt or crate in the car. Mostly, Lucky is a guy who wants a committed relationship. He has a cute smile, missing one tooth. When happy, he will come up and put his head on your chest. If you lay down on the floor, he is likely to come up and lay curled up against your arm. Once he loves, he loves deeply. Lucky is neutered and is current on his rabies vaccination. He will be up to date on his other vaccinations and microchipped before adoption. Lucky is ready to meet potential adopters in Southern CA. Out of area adopters will be happily referred to our favorite rescue partners. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-06-00310Minnie Pearl (female)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Miss Minnie Pearl, a real pearl of a girl. She is a 6 year old pixie, weighing 29 pounds, and full of love with her long, cattledog tail. Don't let her smaller stature fool you. She is ready for an active home. Minnie is looking for a person who appreciates her love of fetching and will join in the fun. In fact, one could call Minnie a toy hoarder. She takes very good care of them and does not pull the stuffing out of her toys like some dogs do. She has been known to carry a toy with her around the house, holding it in her mouth as she walks along. Minnie Pearl currently lives with other dogs and likes them. Like all ladies, she ... (Read More)simply prefers a polite introduction upon meeting. With a few dogs, she will even play. A submissive or neutral dog would be a lovely companion for her. Miss Minnie Pearl is a very polite girl. She knows sit, wait, and off. She also walks nicely on a leash and rides politely in the car. She is ready for a person who wants to go places and take her along. Minnis is a sponge when it comes to learning. She is very interested in learning and would really blossom with additional training or even someone who wants to take her to flyball or agility. Minnie really focuses on her person. She is ready to make a deep bond and be someone's very best pal. That said, with her activity level, Minnie is not a fit for a home with kids under junior high age. Minnie is a lovely house pal. She is house trained and, if you ask, will go into her crate where she remains quietly until it is time to get out. Minnie Pearl is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to meet potential adopters in Southern CA. She is being fostered in the Inland Empire. Out of area adopters will be happily referred to local rescues. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)
