Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament

This handsome chap is Pepper Jack. He is suave and mysterious, with a pirate's wink and slight limp on this front leg. That makes him as cool as Johnny Depp. He is a 5 years old purebred Boston Terrier. Pepper Jack is a crowd favorite. At the last adoption event, he proved just how wonderful he is with men, women, and kids. He was also chill around the other dogs. Just like usual with a Boston Terrier, he is a total charmer. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-15-00259Ansel (male)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Good things come to those who wait. That is what Ansel knows. This stunning Australian Cattledog boy is waiting for a wonderful home who is ready for a fantastic, devoted companion dog without all of the crazy energy that comes with a younger Cattledog. Ansel is a 10 years old guy who weighs about 50 pounds. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is a gentle, special soul who is great with people of all ages, men and women. He is also wonderful with his same size and smaller dog pals. Larger, calm dogs would be wonderful pals for him as well. As for cats? That is when his Cattledog drive kicks in. He chases cats, ... (Read More)so a home without cats is a must. Ansel would like a person who appreciates mutual admiration. He prefers someone who will spend time with him and give him lots of belly rubs. He is a social butterfly and really gets excited to see people. He will snuggle, tool. He even likes to be brushed and enjoys a bath. If you are touching him, he is in heaven. He will even smile with happiness. Ansel says that an older guy doesn't need to sit on command every time. After all, he is a total gentleman. A snappy quick sit isn't in his repertoire, though he does sit most of the time when asked. He is also crate trained and house trained. A new home will want to reinforce that. Ansel would love to meet potential adopters who want a big heart kind of dog to be their pal. He is good in a car, but prefers one low enough to make for an easy entry and exit. The 'jumping into the truck' days are for kids, he says. Ansel is available in So California. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Health: Neutered

This striking face belongs to Gonzo, a 1 year old, 65 pound St. Bernard mix. Gonzo has a good start. He is crate trained and starting house training. He is also starting to learn commands. His first few are sit, wait, and coming to his name. His foster mom has started him with clicker training. He knows about the leash and is good in a car. He will benefit from someone who is ready to keep up the training and guidance. Because he is treat motivated, this should be easy. So far, Gonzo has been a nice guy with every person he has met. He is a big, young guy, though. So, small kids may get kicked over by him on accident. Gonzo also has ... (Read More)been good with dogs his size and larger. He loves to play with other dogs. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Young, adorable relationship-building dog needs to find his forever home!! Jax is a 2.5 year-old, lean 32 lb. Australian Cattle Dog mix who has been in foster care for most of his life. He is inherently fearful and needs to build trust through time & patience with a dog-savvy adopter, but he's so sweet, loving, and loyal, and builds such a strong bond once he does, it's worth every minute. He's very easily managed without any medications or special equipment. He's super intelligent, house-trained, does not mark or lift his leg, knows how to use a doggie door, and knows lots of commands. He's also vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. He ... (Read More)has lived with two medium/large dogs and can potentially live with other appropriate, tolerant medium dogs if introduced properly. He does not seem fond of small dogs. He has also lived with cats and is fine with mellow ones. He will bark at those who tend to move erratically or show fear of dogs. He has also lived with foster kittens and has done very well, as they have no fear or apprehension. Jay has been around older, dog-savvy kids but would not be the ideal pet for a first-time dog owner. His ideal home would be fairly relaxed but with an active lifestyle & fenced yard. He is partially muzzle-trained for situations which could be too stressful for him (vet visits, exposure to unfamiliar people in new environments, etc.) but does well when introduced to new people in a safe, familiar environment. He loves to go for long walks and hikes, fetch tennis balls, chew on bones and toys, find toys or food, and work for treats. He can also entertain himself well and does not appear to have any separation anxiety or similar issues. He just needs a place to call his own, where he feels safe and comfortable. He will require a couple of visits in order to establish a relationship before going to his new home. Please call 818.632.6735 or email Kristin@svptv.com to meet this sweet boy!! (Less)

Autumn is nice with women. She is slower to warm up to men, but she does like kids. She also loves to play with water. If you turn on the water hose and aim at her, she will be your best pal (see video). She also loves tug toys and will play with a rope. Autumn is a bit dog-selective. She isn't a fan of small dogs, which can be common with Cattledogs. She would thrive in a home that knows how to keep the pack order, especially if the other dogs are non-reactive. That will set her up for success. Autumn's herding drive causes her to chase horses and cats. A home without cats or livestock is best. Initially Autumn went everywhere with her person. However, Autumn likes to asset herself so she needs a home that knows how to manage Cattledog tendencies. In a home like that, she should be easy to correct with clear boundaries and rules. With that, she should really thrive. Autumn is up to date on vaccinations. She will be spayed soon. She is located in Riverside and is ready to meet a So Cal adopter with Cattledog experience.     It doesn't get any sweeter than Baron von Snarfles. This darling little Cattledog mix found himself in a shelter with a seriously bad case of Secondary Acanthuses NIgricans (or for those of us non-medical types- long term neglect left his hair and skin in horrible shape). Now he is healing, his charming personality is coming out, and he is looking for a forever home who is willing to love him as his hair finishes growing in. Snarfles is between 7-9 years old and weighs about 30 pounds. He is a gentle, low key boy who is a social butterfly. He loves everyone that he meets: people, dogs, and cats. He even likes the vet! Baron von Snarfles ... (Read More)is a very nice boy in the house. He is house and crate trained. He adores people and loves to cuddle and be held. Heck, he is even looks dashing in a sweater. Don't let that calm demeanor fool you. He is a smartie pants. He knows his name and comes when called. He is working on sit and stay. As for food, that is his special pleasure. He will do anything for food. He can hear a treat bag open from the other side of the house and will bark to let you know that he wants one immediately! If you want a fun little buddy who will root for your sports team, hang out with you on the couch, and snack with you, this guy is your dog. That said, he is wonderful on leash and great in a car. So, when it's time to work off the calories from eating snacks, he is ready to keep you company on walks and hikes. Mostly, Snarfles is looking for an amazing home who will see the beauty in his heart. He adores attention and is almost surprised when he gets it. He blossoms more every day and will be a fantastic pal for someone. Snaffles is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is available to meet potential adopters in Southern CA, since he is a beach weather kind of guy. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-15-00693Lucky (male)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Named Lucky because he truly is, this guy is a 5 year old Australian Cattledog who weighs about 27 pounds. Lucky is the kind of dog whose love you earn and, when you do, he is your best friend forever. He has had a rough time of it and a good samaritan stepped in to help him. Lucky, indeed. Now, he is looking for a home who doesn't mind taking it just a bit slow at first. Simple little things make all of the difference to him, such as talking to him before coming up to him, so he knows you are coming his way. Gentle leadership will help him relax and become even more wonderful than he already is. His foster mom wishes that she had fewer ... (Read More)dogs, so she could keep him. Lucky is a typically Cattledog in that he sometimes wonders about bigger dogs. He likes small dogs and would be fine with another medium-larger dog who isn't interested in being number one. He is also uninterested in the cat in the house, so should be fine with cats. Lucky is a smart guy. He learned his name in under a week. We don't know what his name was before he came to us. Also, he is house trained. He knows his basic commands: sit, stay, quiet, and come. He is initially excited to go on an adventure, but stops pulling on the leash after just a bit. He will walk right at your side, ready for whatever fun is in store. He does love car rides. He thinks that he would like to help drive by sitting on your lap. So, he is learning to stay on his side and will benefit from a dog seatbelt or crate in the car. Mostly, Lucky is a guy who wants a committed relationship. He has a cute smile, missing one tooth. When happy, he will come up and put his head on your chest. If you lay down on the floor, he is likely to come up and lay curled up against your arm. Once he loves, he loves deeply. Lucky is neutered and is current on his rabies vaccination. He will be up to date on his other vaccinations and microchipped before adoption. Lucky is ready to meet potential adopters in Southern CA. Out of area adopters will be happily referred to our favorite rescue partners. (Less)
